The Southport High School CyberCards and Warren Robotics Digital Goats proudly present the sixth annual Cards and Goats Exhibition (CAGE Match). This one day event will be held on Saturday, Oct 19th at the historic Southport High School Field house in Indianapolis. This high school robotics competition will use the format of “Ultimate Accent” the 2013 FIRST Robotics game.
FIRST stands for “For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology”. FIRST was established to provide a vehicle to offer youth an exciting, engaging academic alternative to the U.S cultural emphasis on sports and entertainment. Countless studies have shown that the U.S. is falling behind the rest of the developed world in math, science, and technology. FIRST is combating this problem by fostering interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) careers.
As participants of FIRST, the student teams of local high schools design and build robots and then are involved in a series of competition events. These events allow the teams to fine-tune their designs, learning as they compete. We are proud to be able to bring one of these events to the Indianapolis Southside.
As you can see, this event reaches beyond a robot competition. Participating teams donate gifts to the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana, we provide a Silent Auction that funds a college scholarship, we host a blood drive on-site, and we spread the message of how fun and inspirational science and technology really are.
